If you use Google flight search website and search for flights from Toronto to Taipei with departure date April 11 and return date May 13 then it'll turn up a bunch of Air Canada + others flights with a short layover in NRT for as low as $1182. Other airlines being ANA, EVA, and CAL. I think this is a very good price for a Toronto to Taipei flight around this time.
