My lawn mower died suddenly on the job after 2 years (yup, warranty had just expired). It was equipped with Briggs & Stratton 675 engine. Although super easy to start (single pull always starts it), the engine was less than spectacular. Single speed and insufficient torque for mulching the heavy stuff. Mowing the lawn with a layer of leaves on top was probably too much for the engine. After it died the pull start became difficult to pull and turning the blade by hand showed it has no compression. So either the con rod broke or crankshaft bent. Time for another lawn mower.
Fortunately, at this time of the year, many stores have already put the snow blowers on display. This means the left over lawn mowers are on clearance. I found the following on sears.ca :
http://www.sears.ca/product/craftsma...4-36035?ptag=2
Original price $599.99. Now $299.94 with free shipping to your local sears store.
It's the only mower I can find at this time of year with Honda engine for less than $400. Hope it'll outlast the Briggs & Stratton.
